Underground Accelerator – Handwired Special Edition

The Underground Accelerator has always been my answer to the question “what preamp should I use if I don’t know what preamp I should use?” I’ve been making this circuit for a long time, and I’ve learned a lot along the way, so I wanted to do a special edition of “the best version of this pedal I could possibly make. What makes this one different:

• Hybrid circuit board with concealed modern power circuitry on the bottom and plated brass turrets on top
• Mallory film caps and Vishay film resistors for the audio path
• Robust ceramic tube socket
• Internal regulated 6.3V tube heater power supply and 340V tube plate power supply
• Soft-switched relay bypass
• “Smart standby” – when power is first applied, the high-voltage supply is kept off and the pedal muted until the heater supply is stable and the tube is warmed up enough to operate (~15 seconds)
• Laser-cut wood faceplate inset into the chassis
• Individually serialized, limited run

As a tube pedal, the Special Edition Handwired Underground Accelerator requires a high amount of current to operate correctly. Each pedal will ship with a 9V 1000mA power supply. Third-party supplies can be used as long as they are center-negative, 9VDC  ≥600mA or 12VDC  ≥500mA.
