The Detective

The Detective is a two-channel preamp based on the Hiwatt Dr103. The clean (blue) channel is a little tighter and punchier, and has a bit less gain on tap, but is still capable of getting into a nice overdrive. The dirt (red) channel is more aggressive and has more gain, with a commanding thickness and low end that will rumble your very soul. Each channel has independent Gain, Volume, and EQ controls for complete customization.
The Summer 2024 revised edition of The Detective has the same great circuit as before, but now with upgrades like film capacitors in the audio path and soft-touch relay bypass switching.
As a tube pedal, The Detective requires a high amount of current to operate correctly. I recommend a 9-12VDC power supply capable of delivering at least 600mA. Using less than this can damage the power supply and/or the pedal.
