Slampegg Bee Pre
$210.00
The Slampegg Bee Pre is based on the preamp of the legendary Ampeg B-15N. In order to keep it compact, a 12AX7 was used like in the modern B-15, rather than the bulky 6SL7 of the older units. This allows Slampegg to get a little bit more drive than it’s 6SL7 counterparts, but the main circuit is the same, so you’re not missing any of the gritty warmth and luscious low-end that bassists have come to expect from the B-15. Aside from the standard Baxandall/James wo-band tonestack, Slampegg Bee Pre also has Ultra-Lo and Ultra-Hi switches, which act as a high-cut and hi-boost respectively. The Ultra-lo is much more prominent and results in a strong rolloff of high content to emphasize the fat lows and low-mids. The Ultra-Hi is much more subtle, especially on bass, where the frequencies boosted may be less noticeable except on strong high-frequency range pickups and/or when the treble is already turned up high.
The Summer 2024 revised edition of Slampegg Bee Pre has the same great circuit as before, but now with upgrades like film capacitors in the audio path and soft-touch relay bypass switching.
As a tube pedal, Slampegg Bee Pre requires a high amount of current to operate correctly. I recommend a 9-12VDC power supply capable of delivering at least 400mA. Using less than this can damage the power supply and/or the pedal.
