The Lab Rat is based on the original ProCo Rat. The Lab Rat also has a footswitchable 6N21B boost stage which is independent of the main effect so it can be run by itself as a clean boost, or it can be run with the main effect to act as a boost for kicking your signal up for soloing.
Controls: Gain, Tone, Volume, Boost level, Bypass (footswitch), Boost (footswitch)
The Standard Lab Rat has the original JFET output buffer replaced with a NOS Soviet 6N21B submini tube stage.
It uses a typical LM308 opamp, and "stock" has 1N4148 clipping diodes, which can be removed for raw op-amp clipping or substituted with other options.
It takes a standard 9V input, and can accept center negative or center positive inputs. It uses internal regulators to supply 6V to the tube heaters and 200V to the plates, giving it the richness you expect from a full high-voltage preamp.
CURRENT DRAW NOTE: Like many Sushi Box pedals, this one uses a tube, which means current draw is a bit higher than a standard pedal. During warm up it will pull around 620mA on a 9V input, and when it has finished warming up it will pull about 470mA on a 9V input.
